This house was perfect for our 3 family stay. Lots of room to move around, nice size bedrooms. Two living room areas. Beautiful access to the marsh. Extra large kitchen with TONS of pans, utensils etc. We brought games with us in case of bad weather, and the house had many already there. The only two things we found room for improvement were the bathrooms (we had no electrical plug in ours to use blowdryer/curling iron etc) and they were quite snug, and the grill outside is a permanent grill with no cover from the elements (we got rained out halfway thru our chicken bbq LOL) We would absolutely rent this house again!
We stayed at the Sub Station Memorial Day week and thoroughly enjoyed our vacation here. The house was very clean, the bedrooms were spacious (especially the master bedroom), beds were comfortable, and the kitchen/dining area and two living rooms were perfect for our group. We loved the open upstairs deck, the rocking chairs, and the fantastic view of the inlet, and we spent a great deal of time here in the mornings and each evening. We also utilized the front deck where we enjoyed the ocean breeze, early evening shade, and fireworks. We utilized the dock every day for fishing, boating, and just relaxing under the covered area. We also loved the easy beach access! We made the walk to and from Atlantic Ave and the pier multiple times, and it wasn’t a bad walk at all. Also, the AC works great!!! If you like it cooler at night, you may need extra blankets/throws or bedspreads (there are no extras at the house). Don’t forget to bring bathmats or old towels for the bathroom floors and kitchen towels/dishrags if you opt to bring your own linens. There is one outlet under the light in the bathrooms. We didn’t use it, but it’s there if needed.
A few suggestions to improve the stay for future guests:
•A ceiling fan on the back deck didn’t work. It would’ve been nice to have both fans working, and the fan pulls easier to reach.
•The icemaker didn’t work
•All kitchen knives were dull
•Running water to the dock sink would be nice
•An extra refrigerator would be a HUGE plus for storing water, sodas, and other beverages a large family/group goes through in a week. We made daily trips for ice and used multiple coolers all week.
Overall, this is a nice, casual, comfortable beach house in a great location on the inlet and close to the beach, and we’d definitely consider renting it again!
